Habitat for Humanity InternationalThe Home Depot Foundation honored service men and women during Habitat for Humanity's Veterans Build on the Mall in Washington, D.C. from June 2-5, 2013. During the build, volunteers framed seven houses on the National Mall, representing each branch of the military. After the build, the frames were donated to Habitat affiliates in the D.C. area to be completed in partnership with Habitat partner families
In 2011, The Home Depot Foundation and Habitat for Humanity International partnered to develop Repair Corps, a program that provides Habitat affiliates with the resources to repair the homes of veterans and their families. Through Repair Corps, Habitat affiliates receive the support to make the repairs and modifications to veterans homes that they cannot afford by themselves. Projects range from adding insulation and weather stripping to installing of wheelchair ramps and renovating bathrooms and doorways to accommodate disabled veterans. At times, the veterans homes may get help with larger repairs such as roofing, electrical, plumbing, HVAC and structural improvements are also available. Team Depot volunteers are involved in many of the repairs made through this program.
